New International Public School in Kalundborg Municipality
The City Council of Kalundborg has decided to establish a new international public school. This school is not only a significant political decision but also a strategic investment aimed at supporting our large international companies and creating new opportunities for families in Kalundborg Municipality.
Kalundborg Municipality is a central hub for research, innovation, and production in biotechnology and is home to some of the largest global companies in the STEM field. The municipality has seen an increase in international families moving to the region for work, which has led to a growing need for a school offering for children of different nationalities. For international families, the establishment of an international public school will provide a high-quality education option, where their children will be taught in both Danish and English. The school primarily caters to children of foreign employees from local companies, but Danish students from Kalundborg Municipality may also be admitted if spaces are available.
The school will be established as an independent institution with its own leadership and board but will be located in an existing building connected to Herredsåsen School in Kalundborg. The two schools will share facilities such as specialized classrooms for subjects such as science, art, sports and as well as the library, and there will be close cooperation between the schools at the student, staff, and leadership levels.
The school will be established in accordance with the law on municipal international primary schools (KIG-law) and will operate with a bilingual program offering both Danish and Cambridge-certified English instruction.
The new international public school in Kalundborg is not just an educational institution but a strategic investment. It is a key part of Kalundborg Municipality's development strategy, supporting the area's growth and recruitment efforts. The school will play a crucial role in the future of the municipality by meeting the demand for high-quality education in a growing and dynamic Kalundborg.

From August 2025, the school’s operation and continued development will be carried out in cooperation with the school’s board.
You will be creating something entirely new. The school will have many external stakeholders and will receive significant attention from citizens, businesses, and municipal partners. Therefore, as a leader, you need to be outgoing and comfortable building and developing relationships outside of the school. The school is international, and this should be reflected in its leadership and staff.
Your tasks will include:
Establishing and implementing the school in accordance with the KIG-law
Collaborating with local stakeholders, including companies, organizations, and other institutions
Promoting the school
Parent collaboration
